In 2019, Valmet Automotive manufactured a total of 114,000 vehicles at the Uusikaupunki, Finland plant. This is a new production record for the plant, the previous record was made in 2018, when 110,000 vehicles were completed. In recent years, the production volumes at the Uusikaupunki plant have been steadily growing.

The value of the production record is further increased by the challenges that faced the automotive industry in 2019. Under the circumstances, the production record goes to show the strength of Valmet Automotive’s manufacturing operations last year.

The importance of Valmet Automotive to the Finnish national economy is emphasized by the fact that according to the Customs, the value of Finnish exports of motor vehicles for the transport of persons reached almost 2.9 billion euros in 2019, making passenger cars one of leading Finnish export products. Valmet Automotive runs the only passenger car making plant in Finland.

– Despite the global challenges that faced the automotive industry in 2019, Valmet Automotive was able to set a production record. This is a remarkable achievement, based on the expertise and commitment of our personnel, says Pasi Rannus, SVP, Manufacturing, Valmet Automotive.

The total of 114,000 vehicles is a strong case for Valmet Automotive’s flexibility and continuous growth: the production volumes at the Uusikaupunki plant have been steadily rising since 2013. The production is based on scalable manufacturing services, ranging from small-volume vehicles to premium high-volume products.
