Valmet Automotive Oyj (‘Valmet Automotive’) and Patria Land Oy (‘Patria’) have signed a new, multi-year agreement covering the manufacturing of armored vehicles at Valmet Automotive’s Uusikaupunki plant in Finland. The production capacity will increase to hundreds of vehicles per year.

The previous cooperation agreement, signed in December 2025, covered the technology transfer of Patria’s armored 6×6 vehicles and manufacturing of the first vehicles. The agreement signed today is a multi-year agreement and continues the earlier cooperation on Patria 6×6 vehicles with annual capacity of hundreds of vehicles. The commercial value of the cooperation will not be disclosed.

“Technology transfer has been an integral part of Patria’s business model for the past couple of decades, and it has significantly contributed to the success of Patria’s vehicle programs. While we have also increased our own production and investments continue at our production facilities in Hämeenlinna and Valmiera, we have been looking for additional capacity. Valmet Automotive implemented the technology transfer particularly quickly, and vehicle production started in a short time. The expansion of this excellent cooperation brings us tremendous scalability,” says Jussi Järvinen, Executive Vice President, Protected Mobility at Patria.

In technology transfer, armored vehicle manufacturing expertise is transferred to selected partners. This model improves security of supply, strengthens national industry, and creates strategic competitive advantage. Taking the entire subcontractor network in Finland into account, the cooperation between Patria and Valmet Automotive generates employment for approximately 240 people per 100 vehicles.

“The agreement signed today further strengthens the cooperation between Valmet Automotive and Patria. We will create important additional capacity for Patria quickly and to a high standard, reaching full capacity already in early 2027. In line with our strategy, Valmet Automotive has now evolved into a company serving several industries and we have secured our place in the Finnish and European defense sector. I want to warmly thank Patria for their trust in us as well as Valmet Automotive’s personnel for the successful technology transfer,” says Pasi Rannus, CEO of Valmet Automotive.

The expanding cooperation is made possible by Valmet Automotive’s advanced serial manufacturing expertise accumulated over the decades. The company’s long experience in contract manufacturing for the most prestigious brands in the automotive industry is reflected in the exceptional quality, scalability and fast production ramp-up as well as the security of the technology transfer.
