Valmet Automotive’s recruiting campaign in February-March yielded over 900 applications for the 300 open car builder positions. The selection process is under way and will continue till calendar week 16. Part of the new personnel has already started training at the car plant.

The recruiting campaign precedes a considerable rise in Mercedes-Benz A-Class volumes at Valmet Automotive’s Uusikaupunki plant, including the start of manufacturing in two shifts in May-June. Valmet Automotive and Daimler AG announced an agreement in 2012, according to which Valmet Automotive will manufacture over 100,000 A-Class vehicles in Finland during 2013–2016.

– In total, we received 919 applications. The sheer volume is satisfactory, especially since we already recruited 100 car builders in the summer of 2013. Most of the applicants are locals of Uusikaupunki, but increasing numbers come from neighboring cities of Pori, Rauma, Turku and Salo. We also got plenty of applications from throughout Finland. We are pleased that our active campaign in the social media has been well noted, says Juha Laitala, HR Specialist, Valmet Automotive.

The new car builders will be employed in body, paint and assembly shops at Valmet Automotive’s Uusikaupunki plant.
