Valmet Automotive increases today the Mercedes-Benz A-Class production volumes by launching two-shift operation at Uusikaupunki, Finland plant.
Valmet Automotive has prepared for the volume ramp-up planned with Daimler AG with a recruiting campaign earlier this year. The Uusikaupunki plant now has around 300 new car builders, all of whom have been trained for their profession at the plant during the spring.
In production, the first shift runs from 6 am to 2.30 pm, the second shift from 2.30 pm to 11 pm. The schedules of other functions have been fixed for optimal support to the production.
– The reason for the production ramp-up is the strong global demand for the A-Class. We have continuously increased our production volumes, and now by launching the two-shift operation we can offer a considerable additional capacity in the A-Class production volumes for our customer Daimler AG, says Mr. Pasi Rannus, Production Director, Valmet Automotive.
Valmet Automotive and Daimler AG announced an agreement in 2012, according to which Valmet Automotive will manufacture over 100,000 A-Class vehicles in Finland during 2013–2016.
