Valmet Automotive builds an additional line in the general assembly at the Uusikaupunki, Finland car plant to speed up production and increase flexibility. The new line provides for additional stations in the early phase of the general assembly, and it will be operational in August. The new line will create about 50 new jobs at the car plant.
In recent years, Valmet Automotive has constantly ramped-up the production volumes at the Uusikaupunki car plant, and in 2018, the company delivered more than 100,000 vehicles for the first time in its history. Based on production figures of the first half-year, it is estimated that this record will be surpassed this year.
Due to the rapid growth of production volumes, the facilities and processes at the Uusikaupunki car plant are under constant development. However, this year the changes in the general assembly are much larger than in previous years. Building an additional line responds both to the current and future production needs, with emphasis on enhanced flexibility.
The additional assembly line will also create about 50 new jobs at the Uusikaupunki car plant. Based on the previously announced car plant recruitment needs, more than 400 people will be recruited during the latter part of the year, especially in the various production tasks.
– The Uusikaupunki car factory is constantly preparing for future challenges. The additional assembly line signifies our development work for greater manufacturing flexibility to improve our competitiveness and our ability to respond to customer needs, says Pasi Rannus, Senior Vice President, Manufacturing at Valmet Automotive.
