Proud. That sums it up after months of preparations. We have today announced the start of production of the new, 4. generation Mercedes-Benz A-Class at Valmet Automotive’s Uusikaupunki, Finland plant.

The manufacturing agreement was announced on March 22, 2017. The production launch is announced today on July 10, 2018. That’s 475 days apart. Not that many, considering what we have achieved: production facilities for a new car model. And just weeks after the plants in Rastatt and Kesckemét started their production. Yet it definitely felt longer because we all have so eagerly waited for this day.

Valmet Automotive’s history with the A-Class goes back to 2012. On July 24, 2012 we published a media release stating our manufacturing agreement for the 3. generation Mercedes-Benz A-Class. At the time, this was the industrial news of the year in Finland.

Today we have at the Uusikaupunki plant 150 invited guests, speeches and so many important meetings. In the general feeling of joy, exhilaration and fulfillment, the new A-Class stands in the center.

The success with the previous A-Class has now led us to manufacturing the new version. So yes, we are proud. And for a good reason.
