Valmet Automotive, the experienced service provider for automotive industry, has consolidated its position as the leading Finnish robotics and production automation company with the Mercedes-Benz A-Class dedicated body shop.
Valmet Automotive made the all-time largest industrial robot deal in Finland for the current body shop. The purposeful, highly automated body shop for the Mercedes-Benz A-Class has approximately 200 inter-linked robots, with the body shop automation level exceeding 90%.
The body shop also features state-of-the-art technologies, including laser welding and soldering and online robot measuring stations. The footprint of the body shop, 2 hectares makes it the largest welding shop in Finland
Valmet Automotive’s Uusikaupunki body shop fulfills all the requirements for a modern car plant. A specialty is the capability of several robots to multifunction: instead of working on just one welding operation, these robots can change the tools and work on two or more operations in the station. Another speciality is the speed with which the body shop was implemented – less than 6 months.
“We have repeatedly proved that we can meet the most challenging schedules for production launch. In the Daimler project, we are again proceeding in record speed. Furthermore, our quality has a top reputation”, says Mr. Ilpo Korhonen, President, Valmet Automotive.
