Convertible roof systems

Roof business is Valmet Automotive's newest business line, and we are one of the three leading suppliers of roof systems with a global market share of 25%. Our roof business customers include BMW/MINI, Daimler, Renault and Bentley.

Valmet Automotive acquired former Karmann’s convertible roof business with production sites in Germany and Poland in 2010. Karmann is renowned for innovative solutions, comprehensive product range and high quality with premium-level customer references. Their development and manufacturing include soft-tops, retractable hard tops, hard tops and other innovative roof systems. The acquisition is the most significant step in Valmet Automotive's international expansion so far.

Consequently, Valmet Automotive has substantially complemented its offering in convertible engineering and manufacturing services, particularly in component manufacturing. The roof systems business is an integral part of the company strategy, and helps Valmet Automotive to respond to the rapidly changing needs of automotive industry with lean and flexible solutions.

The important issues in convertibles are the manufacturer's knowhow and experience of open cars, integration of the roof and car and installation of the roof. This combination ensures functional and durable roof solutions that consumers can enjoy.
