Planning process

The planning process consists of preparing detailed plans on how the work will be carried out.

The project plan includes details about how the project work will be carried out, how it will be monitored and controlled and how communication will be facilitated. The plan also includes information about costs and timescales.

All tasks need to be scheduled in the most efficient order to ensure tasks with inter-dependencies are completed when required and to enable several tasks to be performed parallel.

PM brings unique focus on the achievement of the goals of the project.

Large projects must be broken down into subprojects and, in turn, into specific work elements and tasks:

  • Project content, scope of development
  • Quality
  • Cost
  • Timing
  • Risk monitoring
  • Communication internal/external
  • HR, organization
  • Procurement
  • Documentation, data management
