Who is the owner of Valmet Automotive?
Valmet Automotive was founded as Saab-Valmet in 1968 by the Swedish Saab-Scania AB and the Finnish Valmet Corporation. In 1989, the Swedish ownership was transferred to Saab Automobile. Since spring 1992 the company was owned by Valmet Corporation, and renamed Valmet Automotive Inc. in September 1995. In July 1999, Metso Corporation became the sole owner of Valmet Automotive. Since November 2010, Finnish investment companies Pontos Group and Tesi (Finnish Industry Investment Ltd) have been the major shareholders in Valmet Automotive. In December 2014, Metso sold its shares so that Tesi and Pontos Group continued as the owners. In January 2017, Valmet Automotive issued shares subscribed by CATL, the globally leading EV battery provider based in Ningde, China, to become a minority co-owner.
