Record number of applications in Valmet Automotive's recruiting campaign
Valmet Automotive's recruiting campaign for 250 carbuilders in November–December yielded a record number of applications. In total, 2597 applications were left between November 16 and December 18. The selection process will continue till the end of January.
The recruiting campaign closed yesterday was the first, with which Valmet Automotive seeks over 1000 people for the production of the Mercedes-Benz GLC SUV. The campaings will continue in 2017.
The selected applicants will be trained in their work during January–February 2017. The carbuilders will be employed at the Uusikaupunki plant in body, paint and assembly shops and in the internal logistics.
– We received a total of 2597 applications, more than ever before. The strong media exposure of Valmet Automotive helped us with this fine result, but we are launching new measures to support our forthcoming recruiting, because we will need plenty of applicants in our future campaings as well, says Mr. Tomi Salo, HR Director, Valmet Automotive.
The recruiting campaing covered whole Finland, and this is visible in the results. Areas with most applicants were Vaasa–Oulu, Tampere–Jyväskylä, Eastern and South-West Finland. The applicants were aged between 18 and 55, 25 % of applicants were women.
Valmet Automotive will start manufacturing the Mercedes-Benz GLC SUV at the Uusikaupunki plant in early 2017.
